Overview
When someone @mentions you in a comment or in the description of an item, Sinra keeps it for you in the notification center. You do not have to remember where you were mentioned: the counter in the top bar tells you how many mentions are waiting, and one click takes you to the exact comment.
The counter
The bell in the top bar shows the number of unread mentions you have in the current organization (99+ beyond 99). Nothing is shown when you have none, but the bell stays a link to the center. The counter follows what you do: mark a mention as read and it goes down at once.
The notification center
Open the bell to list your mentions, unread first, then the most recent. Each line shows who mentioned you, the item (type, number and title), an excerpt and the date.
- Open a line: Sinra marks the mention as read and takes you to the item. If the mention is in a comment, the thread opens, scrolls to that comment and highlights it for a few seconds. If the item or the comment was deleted, you come back to the center with a message.
- Mark as read / unread: use the button on the line. Mark all as read clears the whole list.
- The Unread mentions widget of the developer dashboard uses the same state, and its See all link opens the center.
Open questions
When you write a comment that mentions someone and you expect an answer, tick Waiting for a reply before publishing. The mention then becomes a question, followed in two tabs of the center:
- To answer: the questions put to you. A question open for more than 3 days is flagged Overdue.
- Awaiting reply: the questions you asked and nobody has answered yet.
A question closes by itself when the person you mentioned replies in the same thread. They can also use Mark as handled if the answer came another way. A mention in a description is never a question.
Mention emails
Mentions are grouped in an email, sent after the delay set in your notification preferences. The subject names who mentioned you and where, for example Alice mentioned you on Issue #123 “Login” (Acme); a grouped email says Alice and David mentioned you on 3 items (Acme). Each mention has its own line with the author, the item, an excerpt and a View comment button that opens the comment in Sinra. Emails are written in your language.
Every email carries a link to your notification preferences and an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribe links from emails sent before this feature no longer work: you land on an “expired link” page that points to your preferences.
Replies and late questions
When the person you asked a question (a mention marked Waiting for a reply) answers on the same item, you get a notification and an email: X replied to your question. A question left unanswered for more than 48 hours is flagged as late. The Unread mentions widget on the dashboard shows who mentioned you and on which item. The author and the item are kept as they were, so a line stays readable even if the author or the item is deleted later.
